Man’s Impact on the Environment

Solar panels

Solar energy is a renewable and clean source of energy! To harness the energy from the Sun in land-scarce Singapore, solar panels are built on the surface of reservoirs to not only reduce the need for land but also helps to reduce the rate of evaporation of water in the reservoirs.

Wind power

Wind is a source of kinetic energy! While in the past, wind was used to grind grain or pump water, wind is now more commonly used as a renewable source of energy to generate electricity.

Reforestation

Reforestation is one way of mitigating the harmful effects of deforestation. Although reforestation efforts are helpful, reducing the damage of deforestation is far more complex than the simple planting of trees.

Upcycle

While it may be difficult to reduce our consumption of materials, science and technology can help us to reuse and recycle materials to help conserve our natural resources.
